The NCAA Division III Rules Test is required annually for all head coaches and athletics administrators with compliance responsibilities on an annual basis per NCAA Bylaw 11.8.  Failure to administer the test on an annual basis shall be considered an institutional violation per Bylaw 20.15.2.

Each year, the Division III Rules Test is available from August 1 through July 31.  It is intended to be a learning tool offered to the Division III membership and be taken "open book" in an effort to better familiarize individuals with the legislation contained in the NCAA Division III Manual.  A passing score is not a Division III requirement; however this feature will be used at the director of athletics discretion.

As of August 1, 2023, the Division III Rules Test is no longer administered through an external portal and, instead, is located in the NCAA Learning Portal.  To access the test, all athletics staff who must take the exam will require an NCAA MyApps account, as well as access to the NCAA Learning Portal.  The test is available for self-enrollment and NCAA Learning Portal administrators may also assign the course to users on their campus.

Test Taker Instructions & Resources:

1. Access NCAA MyApps using this link: NCAA MyApps
   Note: If you do not have a NCAA MyApps account, please contact your MyApps administrator.
2. Log in to NCAA My Apps using your email address and your My Apps password.
   Note: If you are unsure of your My Apps password, click the “Forgot Password” link located on the login page. If you do not receive a password reset email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk email folder.
3. Click on the “NCAA Learning Portal” tile.
   Note: If you do not see the “NCAA Learning Portal” tile, please contact your MyApps administrator to get access to this application.
4. Search for “Division III Rules Test” in the search bar at the top of the page. Select the course, then select the “Start Learning Now” button.
