Staying Current on NCAA Recruiting Rules

To engage in off-campus recruiting activities, Division II coaches must complete annual certification requirements established by the NCAA. The certification process helps coaches stay informed on recruiting legislation, eligibility requirements, and other key NCAA rules that impact prospective and current student-athletes. Institutional and conference staff also play an important role in supporting and administering the certification process, helping ensure compliance with NCAA recruiting requirements.

Division II certification is completed through Division II University, an online learning platform that provides educational modules covering important NCAA legislation and compliance topics. Coaches must complete the assigned modules each year before participating in off-campus recruiting activities, while institutional and conference staff assist with certification administration, education and oversight.

Annual Certification Requirements

Division II coaches complete a series of educational modules selected by the Division II Legislation Committee. These modules focus on areas such as recruiting, eligibility, amateurism, financial aid and other NCAA rules that support fair and compliant recruiting practices. Each module includes a short assessment that must be completed to receive certification.

Institutions and conferences support the certification process by monitoring participation, maintaining appropriate records, and assisting coaches with annual certification requirements through Division II University.
