Sexual Assault & Interpersonal Violence Prevention

Sexual assault and interpersonal violence can have a significant impact on student-athlete health, safety and well-being. The NCAA is committed to supporting prevention efforts, promoting education and awareness, and providing resources that help member schools create safer campus environments.

Preventing sexual assault and interpersonal violence requires collaboration among campus leaders, athletics departments, student-athletes and community partners. Through education, research and institutional initiatives, the NCAA works to support efforts that reduce risk, strengthen prevention strategies and improve support for those affected by sexual violence.

Education & Resources

The NCAA provides educational resources and prevention tools to help member schools address sexual assault and interpersonal violence. These resources are designed to support awareness, prevention, reporting and response efforts while helping institutions foster safer and more supportive campus environments.

Resources may be used by athletics administrators, campus leaders, healthcare providers, student-athletes and other stakeholders involved in prevention and education efforts. Institutions are encouraged to adapt these materials to meet their individual campus needs and support ongoing prevention initiatives.

Sexual Assault Prevention Tool Kit

The NCAA Sport Science Institute, in partnership with the NCAA Office of Inclusion, engaged leading higher education organizations across the country to develop the publication Sexual Violence Prevention: An Athletics Tool Kit for a Healthy and Safe Culture. This tool kit is one of the many available resources that can provide athletics departments with collaborative strategies to support safer campus environments for all.

Hazing Prevention

Hazing on campus is an important issue that impacts the well-being of the student body and the campus community. The NCAA Sport Science Institute is committed to supporting and working with campus professionals, higher education associations and subject matter experts to help prevent hazing and support campuses in creating and maintaining a safe campus environment.

Hazing Prevention Network

Formally HazingPrevention.org this resource for student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators and campus partners is dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing. Initiatives of the organization include National Hazing Prevention Week, the Hazing Prevention Institute, and educational courses that touch the lives of thousands of individuals, organizations, campuses and communities.
