NCAA names Jennifer Fraser senior vice president of governance and member services

Division I vice president had been new department’s interim leader since September

The NCAA has named Jennifer Fraser senior vice president of governance and member services. Fraser, who has served in the position in an interim role since September while maintaining her role of vice president for Division I, assumes the permanent role Monday.

As senior vice president of governance and member services, Fraser will oversee the Association's restructured department that consolidated academic and membership affairs and governance units, with each division's vice president reporting to her.

"After a thorough external search that resulted in significant interest in the position, it became clear that Jenn was the perfect candidate to lead this new department," NCAA President Charlie Baker said. "She has continued to advance in leadership roles at the national office through her positive relationships with the membership and her colleagues. She has a strong and inclusive leadership style and believes in the potential put forth by a combined regulatory affairs and governance division of the national office."

Fraser had held the position of vice president of Division I governance since November 2023. In that role, she served as primary liaison to the Division I Board of Directors and Division I Council, where she helped implement the revised Division I governance structure and worked on a number of policy initiatives, including time management, transfer issues, initial eligibility standards and transformation.

In previous national office positions including managing director of Division I and director of academic and membership affairs, Fraser supported the Division I Committee on Academic Performance, where she played a significant role in that committee's academic reform efforts. She also spent three years working in the Division II governance group.

Fraser began her career at the national office in 2007 in the Eligibility Center, working in client relations. She left the national office in 2013 and returned in May 2015.

Between stints at the national office, Fraser was an assistant commissioner at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. She previously served as assistant athletics director and senior woman administrator at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She also spent time as the assistant commissioner and senior woman administrator at the California Collegiate Athletic Association. She holds a sociology degree from Cal State San Bernardino.
