Amy Folan, associate vice president and director of athletics at Central Michigan
Amy Folan, associate vice president and director of athletics at Central Michigan, and Liz Darger, senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Brigham Young, have been appointed to serve on the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee. Currently a member of the committee, Folan was appointed for two more years through the 2025-26 season, while Darger's five-year term begins Sept. 1.
Folan has served on the committee since Sept. 1, 2022, when she was appointed to fill an open position following a committee member departure. She has been at Central Michigan since Oct. 5, 2020, coming from Texas, where she had spent 17 years. From 2012-20, she was the university's executive senior associate athletics director, overseeing the Longhorn Foundation.
"It has been a privilege to be a part of the committee, and I look forward to continuing my service," Folan said. "It's an exciting time in the game right now, and I look forward to working with my fellow committee members the next two years to move the game forward and to provide memorable championship experiences for all involved."
Liz Darger, senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at Brigham Young
Brigham Young's sport administrator for women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's gymnastics, the spirit squads, and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, Darger also oversees human resources and gender equity for the athletics department. In addition, she is a member of the NCAA Common Ground leadership team, tasked with exploring how representatives of faith-based and LGBTQ communities can work more cohesively in college sports and higher education to model respect for all. She has been at Brigham Young since 2015, with previous experience as an assistant women's basketball coach at Utah Valley from 2009-15.
"I am honored to be selected to serve on the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee and am grateful to Brett Yormark (Big 12 commissioner) and Dayna Scherf (vice president) for their nomination to represent the Big 12," Darger said. "I care deeply about the continued growth and success of women's basketball, and I care deeply about the student-athletes we lead. This is a dynamic time in the history of college sports, and I am thrilled to begin working with Lynn Holzman (NCAA vice president of women's basketball), her staff and my fellow committee members."
Darger will be filling the committee position vacated by Jill Shields, deputy director of athletics at Kansas State, who has been on the committee since 2019 and will depart Aug. 31.
