DII Implementation Committee roster announced

The Division II Administrative Committee on Wednesday announced the roster of the Implementation Committee that is charged with leading the division's work following the Association-wide vote on a new constitution in January. 

The committee, co-chaired by Wisconsin-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford and Delta State President William LaForge, will review the division's rules and policies and make recommendations to ensure that changes are consistent with the principles agreed upon in the new constitution. 

The committee comprises 28 voting members: one representative from all 23 Division II conferences and five current and former student-athletes. Former California University of Pennsylvania volleyball player Madeleine McKenna, a member of the Constitution Committee, will be one of those student-athlete representatives. The other four will be Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members and will be determined at the 2022 NCAA Convention in January.

"The Implementation Committee represents a broad cross-section of the Division II membership, in terms of perspective and experience, and will be vital in the work of aligning the division's policies and rules with the NCAA's new constitution," said Steven Shirley, Minot State President and chair of the Division II Presidents Council, who will serve as a nonvoting member on the Implementation Committee. "This is an opportunity to continue engaging with the Division II membership to enhance the student-athlete experience and the division as a whole." 

The Implementation Committee will begin meeting in January and provide regular updates to the Division II Management and Presidents Councils. Any recommendations from the Implementation Committee will follow the current Division II governance structure, legislation and policies. 

The committee's work will follow an Association-wide vote on a new constitution at the 2022 NCAA Convention on Jan. 20 in Indianapolis. The Constitution Committee in November shared a draft constitutionand NCAA members shared feedback on it at a Special Convention. The Constitution Committee will provide its final recommendations to the NCAA Board of Governors on Dec. 15.
