The executive affairs intern supports the executive affairs support staff in the Office of the President through a broad range, cross-functional experience with project management and administrative support, while collaborating with national office staff on internal and external events. The role involves providing onsite event execution and leadership support, managing and communicating data and conducting research on college sports issues with professionalism, discretion and attention to detail in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The intern reports to the associate director of executive affairs and collaborates with the other members of the office throughout the year. This full-time, year-long internship requires the intern to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per week with some nights and weekends. Occasional travel and overtime are required for onsite event implementation. Confidentiality and a high level of professionalism are essential to being successful in this role.

Former executive affairs interns have gone on to work for national governing bodies, member schools and conferences, as well as professional sports teams and in the private sector.

Audience

College graduates with a bachelor’s degree from a four-year NCAA member institution who are interested in executive operations, event planning and supporting senior leadership in college sports.

Format

A full-time, in-person internship at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, supporting the executive affairs office and reporting to the associate director of executive affairs.

Time Commitment

A yearlong program running June 15, 2026 through May 28, 2027. Relocation to Indianapolis is required.

Compensation

Interns are paid hourly at a rate that equates to $33,000 annualized and receive full benefits. Applicants should plan for their own relocation costs to Indianapolis.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year NCAA member institution by the internship start date
  • No prior experience as an NCAA national office intern or employee
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (international students may apply through Optional Practical Training for F-1 students)
  • Interest in intercollegiate sports, executive operations or non-profit management
  • Strong communication, research, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
