The business performance group is committed to data-driven decision making across the NCAA national office. The group is composed of business analytics and consulting professionals who apply data science and data visualization technical skills to assist in the on-going management and development of a mature and broadly used business analytics platform. The business performance group is also responsible for the NCAA data warehouse that supports business functions across the national office. The internship position will combine data management, data visualization and business consulting. This role is designed for those individuals who have an interest in becoming a business leader in athletics.


Job Description: Business Performance


This role is designed for individuals who have an interest in becoming a business or business analytics leader in athletics.

General position summary:

Work with a small team of experienced business analytics professionals to apply data science and data visualization technical skills to assist in the ongoing management and development of a mature and broadly used business analytics program.

The focus will be on monitoring and supporting current data marts as business requirements, underlying source systems and data mart management procedures change and evolve.  This role will also be involved with the innovation effort for data visualization and reporting across several reporting tools, including Tableau.

Job responsibilities:

  • Use sports analytics and data science skills to effectively apply data-driven approaches to the business problems of the NCAA.
  • With advanced data visualization techniques, tell the story analytically of the business.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills when engaging with business process owners to understand how best to fulfill their business analytics needs.
  • Collaborate among the business performance team and source system developers to keep informed of underlying business requirements and source system changes that should be accommodated in a data mart.
  • Assist team with managing and maintaining the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack data warehousing environment and data marts according to business requirements and data warehousing best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Microsoft Suite, SQL, Python, Tableau/Power BI, Excel, Statistics.
