NCAA, Columbus unveil logo for 2027 Women’s Final Four

Logo pays tribute to city flag and historic arches as the basketball championship heads to Ohio capital for a 2nd time

Highlighting iconic features and colors characteristic of the city of Columbus, Ohio, the 2027 NCAA Women's Final Four logo has been unveiled.

For the second time, Columbus will serve as the host city for the Women's Final Four, with Ohio State and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission serving as co-hosts for the event at Nationwide Arena. The two national semifinals will take place Friday, April 2, with the national championship game being contested Sunday, April 4. Columbus previously welcomed Women's Final Four fans in 2018, which featured both national semifinal games going into overtime and a national championship game decided on a buzzer-beater. Led by 2018 Most Outstanding Player Arike Ogunbowale, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish captured their second national title, with Ogunbowale hitting the game-winning shot in both games.

"Columbus has been the backdrop to many special NCAA championship moments over the years, including a thrilling Women's Final Four in 2018," said Lynn Holzman, NCAA vice president of women's basketball. "Our hosts and partners, Ohio State and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, have played an integral role in elevating the championship to deliver an exceptional experience for student-athletes, coaches and fans."

"Hosting the Women's Final Four in Columbus is a win for all involved," said Ross Bjork, senior vice president and athletics director at Ohio State. "The partnership between Ohio State, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and Nationwide Arena, among others, will make this a premier event that will also serve as a way to shine a spotlight on our great city and a sport that is rapidly growing in popularity. We have a long history of putting on first-class events in Columbus, and this will be no exception."

Designed by Section 127 in Indianapolis, the 2027 Women's Final Four logo includes tributes to the city in the design. Standing out from the black and chrome, the logo pays homage to the Columbus flag, with its use of blue and yellow. The holding shape and arch at the top of the logo are nods to the Columbus streetcar arches, giving the city the nickname "Arch City." The bottom arch, featuring the city name, is inspired by the Short North neighborhood's iconic steel arches. Finally, the brackets and national championship trophy capture the relentless pursuit, determination and triumph that define each team's journey for a national championship.

"We are thrilled to officially begin the countdown to the 2027 NCAA Women's Final Four, one of the biggest weekends in women's sports," said Linda Logan, CEO and president of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission. "Columbus last hosted the championship event in 2018, and we can't wait to roll out the red carpet to fans and student-athletes once again. From new community-wide celebrations of girls and women in sports to elevated student-athlete fan experiences, we look forward to showcasing all that's new in Columbus and why we're a top sports city."
