How many grants can potential recipients apply for?
Applicants can submit proposals for up to three grants. However, you may only receive up to two grants simultaneously. For information regarding which grants can be received concurrently, refer to the grant guidelines for your selected grants.
When should grant recipients expect to receiving funding from the NCAA?
Funding will be dispersed annually in September.
Do the program beneficiaries get a separate check for their professional development?
No, the professional development funds will be incorporated within the lump sum disbursement to the institution each September.
What should recipients do in the case that a program beneficiary finds employment elsewhere during the grant term?
Recipients must notify the program administrator immediately when a vacancy occurs. Per the award agreement, recipient institutions/conference offices have four months to fill the position without forfeiting the grant.
Can the job title and responsibilities change for the program beneficiary after my proposal is accepted to receive funding?
All changes to job titles and descriptions must be reviewed and approved by the grant program administrator before going into effect.
What can program beneficiaries use their professional development money towards?
Recipients can use the provided professional development funds towards purchases including conferences, certifications, trainings and memberships. We encourage recipients to consult supervisors and mentors for specific recommendations for beneficial developmental experiences.
Can professional development funds be used towards tuition?
Yes, professional development funds can be used towards tuition but cannot be used for any educational expenses outside of tuition (e.g., activity fees, facility or technical support fees, late fees, etc.). If you are unsure if this qualifier applies to your situation, reach out to the grant administrator.
Does the recipient keep the remainder of the unused professional development funds at the conclusion of the academic year?
If there is a remaining balance of $1,000 or less, the unused professional development funding may remain with the program beneficiary.
What do I do if I have over $1,000 of unused professional development funds?
If the remaining balance exceeds $1,000, any unused funding must be returned to the NCAA grant administrator. Recipients will return the funding differential between their balance and $1,000, which they will then be able to keep.
Does the professional development money roll over to a new academic year?
No, professional development funds do not roll over. However, the Recipient must fill out a reconciliation form to prove proof of purchase each year of the designated grant and return unused funds exceeding $1,000.
Do we have to keep records of every purchase with the professional development funds?
Yes, recipients are required to submit a grant reconciliation form and all corresponding proof of purchase documentation no later than August 15 at the end of each year they receive grant funding. Additional grant funding payments for subsequent budget cycles will be contingent upon receipt and review of these documents.
I was selected to receive grant funding, but I want to defer funding to a different year. Am I able to defer this grant?
Recipients may defer, in writing, funds for one year from the date of the initial offer. Recipients are required to confirm their participation in the following year’s grant cycle by the end of the proposal submission deadline in that new year.
