Academic Performance Program (APP) - condition of membership requiring Division I member institutions to report academic data to the NCAA.

Academic Progress Rate (APR) - figure that accounts for the institution's success in retaining, graduating, and the academic eligibility of student-athletes.

Aggravating and Mitigating Factors (AMFs)  - circumstances present in a case that warrant a higher or lower range of penalties for a particular party.

Allegation Review Board (ARB) - team of enforcement staff members that analyzes the draft NOA in accordance with enforcement internal operating procedures.

Box.com (Box) - enforcement case document management system and secure website.

Committee on Infractions (COI) - hearing officers that find facts, conclude whether the facts constitute violations and prescribe appropriate penalties in infractions proceedings of the Association.

Development (Dev) - enforcement relationship and information cultivation team.

Eligibility Center (EC)  - NCAA department that handles all inquiries regarding an individual's amateurism and initial academic eligibility statuses.

Enforcement (ENF) - NCAA department charged with upholding integrity and fair play among the NCAA membership.

Enforcement Working Group (EWG) - working group that proposed multi-level violation reporting and penalty structure reforms that took effect August 2013.

Factual Information (FI) - pertinent case information that tends to support or rebut an allegation.

Infractions Appeals Committee (IAC) - appellate hearing officers for Level I, II and major violations.

Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs) - administrative procedures for enforcement investigation and processing functions.

Investigations and Processing team (IP) - enforcement team that investigates potential Level I, II and major cases and presents allegations and/or proposed findings of fact to the Committee on Infractions.

Legislative Services Database (LSDBi) - database that contains information related to NCAA legislation, proposals, interpretations, educational columns, and infractions cases.

Letter of Inquiry (LOI) - request to institution to conduct an investigation and submit results regarding potential Level II, III, major or secondary violations.

Notice of Allegations (NOA) - official document containing information outlined in NCAA Bylaw 19.7.1 that is issued when enforcement believes there is sufficient information for the COI to conclude that a Level I or II violation occurred.

Notice of Inquiry (NOI) - notice to an institution's president, chancellor or designee that enforcement staff will conduct an inquiry on the institution's campus; tolls the statute of limitations.

Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) - NCAA department that advises staff on a wide range of legal issues.

Office of the Committees on Infractions (OCOI) - NCAA department that performs administrative support, logistical coordination, research, analysis, training, drafting, strategic planning and other duties for the COI.

Operations Management Group (OMG) - enforcement team that provides administrative and advanced case support for Level I, II and major cases and development work.

Progress Toward Degree (PTD) - eligibility requirement that student-athletes maintain progress toward a baccalaureate or equivalent degree in accordance with NCAA Bylaw 14.4.

Prospective Student-Athlete (PSA) - a student who has started classes for the ninth grade or any student provided benefits by a representative of a member institution that the institution does not provide to prospective students generally.

Public and Media Relations (PMR) - NCAA department responsible for real-time, immediate external communications.

Quality Control Group (QCG) - enforcement team dedicated to ensuring that quality is fully embedded into the culture, processes, and governing authorities of the enforcement department.

Requests/Self-Reports Online (RSRO) - system for reporting and maintaining information related to SAR requests, waivers, and potential violations.

Student-Athlete (SA) - enrolled student at a member institution who was solicited or reports for an intercollegiate squad that is under the jurisdiction of the athletics department.

Student-Athlete Reinstatement (SAR) - NCAA staff responsible for evaluating violations and waivers impacting student-athlete eligibility.

 

Summary Disposition Report (SDR) - official written report containing agreed upon Level I or II proposed findings of fact and other information outlined in NCAA Bylaw 19.6 that is issued to the COI.
