The Gerald R. Ford Award, established in 2004 by the late NCAA President Myles Brand, honors an individual who has provided significant leadership as an advocate for intercollegiate athletics throughout their career. Named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford, who played football at Michigan and was a key figure in American politics, this award recognizes his contributions to sports and leadership.
