High School Account Review Process

High schools are reviewed by the NCAA Eligibility Center to ensure student-athletes are academically prepared to enter a four-year college or university.

High schools may be reviewed based on four methods of identification:

  1. High schools seeking to have their courses used in the initial-eligibility certification process for the first time.
  2. Randomized review or regular audit of any high school in the Eligibility Center database.
  3. Information indicating there may have been changes to high school policies and operations and/or curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  4. Information indicating there may be issues related to the validity of a high school (e.g., curriculum, instruction, assessment, quality control, etc.) for the purpose of meeting initial-eligibility requirements.

If you would like your high school or program to be reviewed for use in initial-eligibility certifications, and your high school or program does not have an account with the Eligibility Center, (or your high school or program’s account status is “None”), call the Eligibility Center’s high school support line at 877-622-2321, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time. The customer service team will ask you basic demographic information, including contact names, phone numbers and emails. After the call, an email will be sent to your contacts with your high school code and directions on how to set up a password to access the High School Portal.

Your high school or program will be asked to provide the following:

  • Academic calendar.
  • Administrator and teacher information.
  • Course catalog.
  • Daily class schedule.
  • Enrollment information.
  • Graduation requirements.
  • Information about curriculum and instruction.
  • Information about policies (e.g. attendance, repeated courses, academic integrity, transcript revisions).
  • Master class schedule.
  • Sample transcript.
  • Transcript information.

The length of the review process is determined by your timely and complete submission of review documents and any additional information requested by the Eligibility Center.

There are several potential outcomes of a high school account review, including but not limited to:

  • Cleared: Courses and proof of graduation from the high school or program may be used in the NCAA initial-eligibility certification process.
  • Extended Evaluation: Proof of graduation may be used in the NCAA initial-eligibility certification process. The use of courses from the high school or program in the NCAA initial-eligibility certification process is pending individual review.
  • Not Cleared: Courses and proof of graduation from the high school or program may not be used in the NCAA initial-eligibility certification process.
  • Withdrawn: The high school or program has opted out of the review process. Courses and proof of graduation may not be used in the NCAA initial-eligibility certification process.
