To protect student-athletes and the integrity of competitions in the face of increased sports gambling legalization, the NCAA engages in sports betting research. Among the research studies conducted regularly since 2004 are large-scale national surveys of student-athlete gambling attitudes and behaviors. Other recent studies include a 2023 study commissioned by the NCAA on sports betting among young adults and a 2023 survey of senior compliance administrators on sports betting issues.
