Five student-athletes added to NCAA women’s gymnastics regionals

Committee cites error in breaking ties during selection process

The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Committee on Tuesday added five individual event specialists to regional competitions.

The additions to the regionals, which will be held next week, were made due to an error during the committee's selection process when breaking ties. The gymnasts are:

  • Elizabeth Cesarone, Central Michigan — vault, Arkansas regional.
  • Amelia Knight, Illinois — bars (alternate), Michigan regional.
  • Brooke Donabedian, Temple — floor, Florida regional.
  • Bailey Libby, Iowa — floor, California regional.
  • Jah'Liyah Bedminster, Pittsburgh — floor (alternate), Michigan regional.

"After the release of the individual participants to the NCAA regional championships, it was discovered that the tiebreaking procedures were not correctly used," said Guard Young, committee chair and women's gymnastics coach at Brigham Young. "The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Committee reconvened to correct the mistake. The additional coaches/gymnasts have been notified of this mistake and have now been invited to participate in the upcoming championship event. We are excited the correct athletes can be invited and look forward to their participation."

They will join the previous individual event specialists, who were selected Monday.

The Arkansas and Michigan regionals will be April 3-6. The California and Florida regionals will be April 4-7.

The NCAA National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships will be April 18-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
