NCAA files motion to dismiss in Academic Performance Program case

"The NCAA and its members are united in the mission to provide a pathway to academic success and opportunity for college athletes who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The claims in this lawsuit do not account for the number of steps the NCAA and schools and conferences have taken to support schools with limited resources, including HBCUs. If any HBCU does not meet academic obligations under membership rules, the policy and process provide flexibility to mitigate penalties respecting the mission and resources of the school. The NCAA also operates a grant program for limited resource schools that has awarded more than $19 million--including $12 million to HBCUs--to help student-athletes earn their degrees.”
