April 2015: The Student-Athlete Voice

Chris Pike, Vice Chair, National SAAC

Division II National SAAC conducted its spring meeting April 17-19 in conjunction with the first-ever Division II APPLE Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to participating in APPLE programming alongside nearly 300 Division II student-athletes and administrators, National SAAC established goals for 2015 and finalized policy for student-athlete voting rights at the 2016 NCAA Convention.

Building on last year’s student-athlete voice initiative, National SAAC will work throughout the year to build best practices for campus and conference SAACs to become more effective leadership groups on behalf of the student-athletes they represent. In addition, National SAAC will publish its position on each piece of legislation in advance of the 2016 Convention. The chair of National SAAC – currently Bubba Baroniel (Nova Southeastern Baseball) - will serve as the annual voting delegate on behalf of Division II student-athletes.

Thank you for your support in passing groundbreaking legislation at the 2015 Convention. We look forward to working with you to continually improve the Division II experience.

Make It Yours!

Chris Pike, Gannon University Football
Vice Chair, National SAAC
