DI golf committees recommend tweaks to 2015 championships

The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf committees are recommending an adjustment to the format for the 2015 championship finals site. The change will replace the individuals-only day on Monday with play by the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on one of the advancing teams.

With eye on budget, committee votes against increase for per diem expenses

DIII Championships Committee recommends against proposals that would cost $1 million in added travel expenses for championship events.

Division II Championships Committee

Purpose: The Championships Committee is the primary oversight group responsible for administering policies and procedures surrounding the division’s 25 championships. The committee oversees the budget and conduct of these championships, as well as the qualification and selection procedures for each. All Division II sport committees report directly to the Championships Committee. The committee also:

  • Oversees applicable playing regulations in the areas of player safety, financial impact and image of the sport and approve appeals for exceptions to the applicable playing regulation when significant financial impact a may occur;
  • Acts for the Division II Presidents Council and Management Council as the final authority regarding championship matters in Division II that are subject to appeal;
  • Is responsible for issues involving college all-star football and basketball contests;
  • Selects sports committee representatives, subject to ratification by the Management Council; and
  • Administers the Division II Enhancement Fund.

Composition: Twelve members, including one member of the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and two members of the Division II Management Council. The vice chair of the Management Council shall serve as an ex officio, nonvoting member.

Division III Championships Committee

The Championships Committee handles the oversight of Division III’s championships.  The committee reports directly to Management Council on matters such as budgetary recommendations.  The committee also supervises the Division III championships qualification and selection process; reviews recommendations from sports committees regarding the administration of those championship; and reviews other issues related to the administration of championships events.  The committee meets in-person three times a year in February, May and September as well as conducting monthly teleconferences.
