  • The NCAA Leadership Academy Workshop is on pause for the foreseeable future.

More Information

What You’ll Learn

  • Learners will learn to identify local/campus needs, networks and resources
  • Learners will learn how to measure success for their specific leadership program
  • Learners will develop professional relationships in support of their respective leadership program development
  • Learners will explore best practices, research and theories in leadership development while learning new ways of thinking through “hands-on,” active learning infused engagement
  • Learners will create a framework for their leadership program and an implementation plan

How is LAW structured

The Leadership Academy Workshop is a four-month commitment and will consist of in-person and virtual sessions.  The in-person three-day learning experience will allow learners to engage with their cohort and subject matter experts while learning foundational components to create their leadership development programs. Learners will meet once weekly during virtual sessions and should expect to engage with members of their cohort throughout the program.

LAW will utilize face-to-face virtual trainings, via the Zoom platform, to continue providing needle-moving education. The virtual program will incorporate active learning strategies and high-level participant engagement to replicate the in-person LAW programming experience.  LAW virtual sessions will utilize Zoom features including polling, breakout groups and the chat box to maintain the interactive dynamic necessary to foster a transformative impact. The sessions will also include slide deck visuals and audio and video clips to manage the pace and energy of “the room.”

Who is Eligible

Athletics administrators from any NCAA member institution or conference office. LAW is an institutional partnership, and as such, applicants must apply with one other person from their campus to be eligible. Please note: learners are required to attend all virtual and in-person sessions and complete thorough pre- and post-program educational assignments.

Cost

The Leadership Academy Workshop is offered free for selected learners. The NCAA covers costs associated with travel, lodging, meals and program materials for the in-person meeting. Additionally, there will be no participant costs associated with the virtual engagement throughout the program.
