Dr. Harold Bardo
Faculty Athletics Representative, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale
The current director of Southern’s MED-PREP program, Bardo served his alma mater as interim director of athletics at SIU prior to Paul Kowalczyk’s arrival on campus. The Sparta native played basketball at SIU from 1958 through 1961, and also competed on the Saluki track and field team. Bardo currently continues to support the athletics department as faculty representative.
Dr. Susan Cross Lipnickey
Associate Professor and Faculty Athletics Representative, Miami University of Ohio
Susan Cross Lipnickey is a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Miami University, where her focus is Health Promotion. Dr. Lipnickey has been a member of Miami’s faculty for over three decades and during that time has served in a number of capacities, including Associate Dean in the School of Education, Health and Society, Interim Chair of the Department of Family Studies and Social Work, and Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA and Mid-American Conference. As a Faculty Athletics Representative, Susan has been provided the opportunity to serve in a number of capacities, including most recently as the Mid-American Conference Representative to Leadership Council, a liaison of Leadership Council to the National SAAC, and as a member of the Division I Infractions Appeals Committee.
As a scholar, Susan’s efforts focus primarily in two areas: health behaviors of college students and the short- and long-term impact of those behaviors and the impact of health and well-being among juveniles and families. Teaching, however, remains a top priority of Susan’s at Miami University and this is evidenced by her being nominated for the Miami University Effective Educator Award 13 times and being named the Miami University Effective Educator in 1996. The Alumni Association also honored her in 2002 with the A.K. Morris Award. Susan also is a partner in the Oxford law firm of Robinson, Lipnickey & Jones, where her efforts are focused on juvenile, family and criminal law, within a general practice. Dr. Lipnickey balances her extensive university service by volunteering her time on numerous community boards, including the Community Counseling & Crisis Center and the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Beth Goode
Senior Woman Administrator/Senior Associate Athletics Director, Stanford University
Beth Goode joined the Stanford Athletic Department in August 1995 as a member of the Media Relations staff. She moved to the Student Services Office in November 1999, was promoted to Director of Compliance in 2002 and was named Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA & Recruiting Services in fall 2005. She was named Sr. Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator in December 2006.
Beth oversees Compliance and Student Services, as well as the department's gender equity initiatives, and several sports programs.
Beth is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, and will be earning her Masters from Gonzaga University in 2008.
