A survey offers insight into what keeps college students in the stands

Average student attendance is down 7.1 percent at college football games since 2009, according to an analysis of turnstile records conducted by The Wall Street Journal. Looking for ideas on how to get students in the seats and keep them there? A fall 2014 survey conducted by the University of Oregon’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators collected responses from 18,876 college students hailing from 32 conferences in all three divisions. Of the respondents, 81 percent had attended at least one sporting event at their university.
