Athletics directors

Eastern Washington named Lynn Hickey as interim athletics director. Hickey, who will begin her duties Feb. 12, served for 18 years as associate vice president and director of athletics at the University of Texas at San Antonio before leaving in 2017 … Mark Hollis announced his retirement as athletics director at Michigan State … Augustana (South Dakota) named Bill Gross as interim director of athletics. Gross succeeds Slade Larscheid.

Associate athletics directors

Steve Brockelbank will assume the post of vice president and athletics director of Muskingum on April 1. He currently is associate athletics director for communications and administration at Miami (Ohio).



Washington and Lee head coach Scott Abell resigned to accept the same position at Davidson … Jack Cosgrove, head coach at Maine for 23 years, was hired as head coach at Colby.

Football assistants

Don Mahoney was named offensive line coach at East Carolina. He previously was an assistant coach at Concord. Daric Riley was named safeties coach at East Carolina … Greg Gasparato rejoined Appalachian State as a defensive assistant.

Women’s lacrosse

Head coach John Battaglino has stepped down after seven seasons at the helm at Albany (New York). Albany promoted associate head coach Jessica Davos to the head coaching position for the remainder of the season.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving assistants

Trinity (Connecticut) hired Harry Traystman as an assistant coach of the men’s and women’s programs.


The Colonial Athletic Association hired Lynn Newton as associate commissioner for finance and internal affairs. Newton spent the past 12 years at Georgetown and has served as assistant athletics director for business operations since 2012.
