East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Job Description and Summary:  The Assistant/Associate Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for the administration of all phases of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II compliance program at ESU.  The Assistant/Associate Athletics Director for Compliance certifies athletic and academic eligibility as well as educates and monitors student-athletes, coaches, staff members, boosters, etc., to ensure institutional compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Duties of the position:  1.Certifies the initial eligibility of student-athletes, including transfer students, by working with the NCAA Eligibility Center. 2.Verifies the amateurism status of each incoming student in conjunction with the NCAA Eligibility Center. 3.Processes and certifies the continuing eligibility of current and continuing student-athletes. 4.Works collaboratively with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure that the university’s athletics program is in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations governing financial aid and assists with monitoring all financial aid awarded to student-athletes, including initial athletically-related aid and renewable athletically-related aid. 5.Maintains accurate athletics aid records by preparing and maintaining a scholarship grid for each sport and revising after each change is made in athletics aid; provides these scholarship grids to the Director of Athletics upon request.  6.Provides rules education to student-athletes, coaches, department staff members, alumni, boosters, and other constituents, such as Admissions staff, Financial Aid staff, and the Registrar’s staff regarding conference and NCAA rules and regulations. 7.Monitors regulations governing recruiting, amateurism, awards and benefits, playing and practice seasons, and sports camps and clinics, plus other relevant NCAA issues. 8.Ensures compliance with reporting requirements by assuming responsibility for filing all NCAA certification forms, squad list forms, drug consent forms, student-athlete statements, annual NCAA demographics report, and any other mandated reports, as required by the conference and the NCAA. 9.Completes and submits NCAA waivers, medical hardships, and student-athlete reinstatement forms as required by the conference and the NCAA. 10.Monitors compliance with playing and practice season legislation (hourly, daily, weekly, and seasonal restrictions). 11.Serves as primary NCAA rules interpreter for ESU coaches and staff. 12.Ensures that NCAA Certification of Compliance is properly completed annually and signed by the ESU Director of Athletics and President in a timely manner. 13.Provides accurate lists of student-athletes to the Center for Drug Free Sport. 14.Maintains accurate records of participation for each sport to document officially the seasons of competition for each student-athlete. 15.Generates reports and informs each head coach of end-of-year eligibility deficiencies to enable student-athletes to correct in summer school. 16.Assists with the preparation of the NCAA Division II Self-Study every five years. 17.Works with Institutional Research in the preparation of the Academic Performance Reports and Academic Success Rate Reports. 18.Educates coaches and staff of official visit and NLI rules and monitors compliance with official visit and other NCAA/NLI rules. 19.Monitors the completion of the NCAA’s minimum number of credits each semester for each student-athlete and reports results to each respective coach and the conference.  20.Declares and communicates the ineligibility of student-athletes when appropriate and facilitates the student-athlete reinstatement process. 21.Communicates effectively with the Director of Athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative concerning all matters of compliance, ineligibility, violations, reinstatements, etc.  22.Coordinates investigation of known and/or alleged rules violations, keeps the Director of Athletics and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) informed of all alleged and known violations, and handles all correspondence with the NCAA and the conference regarding rules violations and follow-up responses. 23.Completes and submits the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) report annually. 24.Coordinates the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program. 25.Serves as a member of the ESU Compliance Committee. 26.Maintains all compliance-related print and digital files and materials. 27.Updates and maintains Compliance Assistant (CA) and ARMS databases. 28.Maintains and submits accurate squad lists for all ESU teams. 29.Serves as primary sport administrator for specific sports, if assigned. 30.Serves as the on-site game administrator for home events of assigned sports and for other home events/activities as assigned by Director of Athletics. 31.Travels with teams qualifying for NCAA post-season competition as assigned by Director of Athletics. 32.Attends all faculty and staff department meetings. 33.Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Skill Factors/Education/Experience:  A Master’s degree is required with an emphasis in Sport Management, Sports Administration, Student Services, Higher Education Administration, Law, or a related field. At least three years of administrative experience in NCAA compliance, preferably at the Division II level.  A demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics is required. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills are required.  Ability to compile data, as well as prepare, write, and review reports is required.  Must have excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn Compliance Assistant software, Banner, and ARMS.  Preferred skills are demonstrated use of Compliance Assistant (CA), LSDBi, Banner, ARMS, and other computer application. The intercollegiate athletic program at Endicott is an integral part of the total educational experience and student activities at the institution. The College wishes to excel in athletics, just as it desires to excel in all activities and functions conducted in its name. If you are interested in mastering skills in the areas of StatCrew, in-game statistics, analytics, and graphic/website design this is the role for you! Responsibilities: Assist the Sports Information Director in the promotion and coverage of the academic, athletic, and social successes of Endicott College student-athletes, both past and present; Be the primary contact for six NCAA Division III varsity sports including men’s and women’s basketball, field hockey, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, and softball; Conduct all aspects of pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage for assigned home contests; Actively contribute professional content to the Endicott Athletics and Recreation website (www.ECGulls.com) according to the standards set by the sports information office; Represent the College in a positive manner on Endicott’s various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, and your own personal social media accounts; Maintain and update accurate historical records; Write and submit copy to the publication’s office needed to print sport guides, admissions literature, academic catalogue updates, and other publications as deemed necessary by the College; Assist in the training and supervising of student workers; Be available for games/ride fan buses during championship events.
