Under the leadership of head coach Chris Curran, the Utah Valley’s men’s golf team has solidified a culture of academic and athletic excellence. During his tenure, Curran’s emphasis on academics first has taken the team from an 875 APR to four straight years of a perfect 1000 APR. The team has boasted an average GPA of over a 3.4 for three consecutive years. While excelling in the classroom, the golf team also won the Loyola Invitational in 2015 and the Pat Hicks Invitational in 2016.
“This team sets a high standard and represents the very core of what the Accelerating Academic Success Program (AASP) is about. They are a prime example of how important a head coach is to positively shifting the culture and raising expectations within an athletic program,” said Tiese Roxbury, NCAA assistant director of research, assessment and academic success.4
