Joint statement from women’s basketball committees on gender equity review

As the NCAA conducts its external review of gender equity issues in connection with the NCAA and with a focus on NCAA championships, the Women’s Basketball Committee and Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee will lead and assist in that review as the top women’s basketball groups within the NCAA structure. To ensure the review is thorough and productive for the sport of women’s basketball, leaders from both committees have met and will continue to meet regularly with the Kaplan Hecker & Fink attorneys to provide input and answer any questions the firm may have.

Today, members of the Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee met with the executive committee from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. We look forward to continued collaboration with the WBCA leadership as we all work to embrace the full potential of women’s basketball and implement any changes for an equitable experience for women’s basketball student-athletes.
