A student-athlete’s performance and recovery is enhanced by their strength training routine and proper attention to nutrition. Many student-athletes also use nutritional supplements, despite the lack of proof of effectiveness, to improve their performance, recovery time and to build muscle. But such substances are unregulated, may be potentially harmful, and can contain substances that will trigger a positive drug test. The SSI helps educate student-athletes on proper nutrition and strength-training techniques to help them perform at peak performance.
