The recruiting process must balance the interests of prospective student-athletes and the Association’s member institutions. The NCAA recruiting bylaw is designed to promote equity among member schools in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and to shield the recruited individuals from undue pressures that may interfere with their scholastic or athletics interests.
The dates in this calendar reflect the application of NCAA Division I Bylaw 13.17.6 at the time of publication of this manual but are subject to change per Constitution 5.2.3.1 or if certain dates change (e.g., National Letter of Intent signing dates) are altered.
(a) August 1-31, 2011, -- Seven contact days selected at the discretion of the institution and designated in writing in the office of the director of athletics. On the designated days, an institution's coaches are not restricted in the number of prospects contacted in a single day. - Contact Period Only (No Evaluations)
(b) Those days during August 1-31, 2011, not designated in (a) above for contact only purposes: Quiet Period
(c) September 1 through November 22, 2011, [except for (1) and (2) below]: Contact Period
(1) November 7-10, 2011: Dead Period
(2) November 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20:
Note: Evaluations of prospective student-athletes participating in lacrosse activities are limited to the three weekends (Saturday and Sunday) prior to Thanksgiving:
(d) November 23, 2011 through January 1, 2012: Quiet Period
(e) January 2 through May 24, 2012, [except for (1) below]: Contact Period
(1) April 9-12, 2012: Dead Period
(f) May 25-27, 2012: Dead Period
Note: Evaluations may occur at one event conducted during the weekend of the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship, provided the event is conducted within a 100-mile radius of the site of the championship. The evaluation must be conducted on a day in which no championship competition is conducted.
(g) May 28 through July 31, 2012 : Contact Period
