Fresno State head softball coach Margie Wright will retire, effective June 30. Wright spent 27 years leading the Bulldogs and coached for 33 years overall. She is the NCAA Division I all-time winningest softball coach and has the second most career victories regardless of sport. She won a national championship in 1998, Fresno State’s first Division I team title.
Baseball – Hofstra named John Russo head baseball coach. He took over the role on an interim basis in January.
Men’s basketball assistants – Memphis added Julian Swartz to its men’s basketball staff as assistant director of operations.
Women’s basketball – Georgetown promoted Keith Brown to head women’s basketball coach. Brown spent the previous five seasons as the program’s top assistant and head of recruiting … Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick is UNC Asheville’s new head women’s basketball coach. Kirkpatrick was an assistant at Florida for the past five seasons.
Women’s rowing – Buffalo head women’s rowing coach Rudy Wieler announced his retirement. Wieler led the program for 11 years and worked with the sport in some capacity over a 45-year career.
Men’s and women’s soccer – Dewi Hardman resigned from his role as Lamar’s head women’s soccer coach. Hardman spent four seasons leading the program.
Men’s and women’s volleyball – Kansas State and head women’s volleyball coach Suzie Fritz agreed to a new contract, keeping her with the Wildcats through 2016. Fritz has coached the team for 11 years.
Wrestling assistants – North Carolina State hired Frank Beasley and Jamill Kelly as assistant wrestling coaches. Beasley comes from Binghamton, while Kelly was as at Cal Poly.
Corporate partnerships – Illinois State named Mark Steiner assistant director of corporate partnerships. Steiner spent the last two years as a graduate assistant with the Redbirds.
USA Track and Field Chief Operating Officer Mike McNees is departing the organization. The former Indiana track student-athlete began with the organization in 2009.
