DIVISION II DEGREE-COMPLETION AWARD PROGRAM
1. Question: Can a student-athlete receive athletics aid and a Division II Degree-Completion Award concurrently?
Answer: A student-athlete is not permitted to receive athletics aid and a Division II Degree-Completion Award concurrently.The Division II Degree Completion Award has been established to assist student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility and will not be receiving any additional athletics aid.
2. Question: May the Division II Degree Completion Award application (including essays and letters) be handwritten?
Answer: All application materials must be typed. Handwritten applications will not be accepted or considered. The Division II Degree-Completion Award application is available on-line in PDF format which allows applicants to input their answers into the application form.
3. Question: When is the submission deadline for the Division II Degree-Completion Award?
Answer: Applications are due the first Tuesday in April. Applications that are postmarked subsequent to that date, will not be considered.
4. Question: When will Division II Degree-Completion Award recipients be notified?
Answer: Decisions on funding should be made and applicants notified by June 1.

6. Question: Is a student-athlete eligible for a Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete has time remaining within his or her 10-semesters/15-quarters to participate in a sport in which the student-athlete would have seasons of competition remaining?
Answer: A student-athlete may not represent the institution in intercollegiate athletics while receiving the Division II Degree-Completion Award.
7. Question: Can a student-athlete who is entering a graduate program receive the award?
Answer: A student-athlete who is entering a graduate program would not be permitted to receive the Division II Degree-Completion Award. The Division II Degree-Completion Award has been established to assist student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility with completion of their undergraduate degree requirements.
8. Question: Can a student-athlete receive the Division II Degree-Completion Award for the summer term preceding their final undergraduate term/year?
Answer: The Division II Degree-Completion Award is intended to cover the costs of credits toward completing an undergraduate degree during a regular academic term or year (i.e., fall semester; spring quarter), not summer terms.
9. Question: A student-athlete only needs four credits to complete his or her undergraduate degree requirements, however, the student-athlete would like to take additional credits during his or her final semester. The student-athlete's institution charges tuition by the credit hour, therefore, the student-athlete's tuition bill will be higher if he or she takes extra credits. Will the student-athlete's degree completion award cover the extra credits?
Answer: The Division II Degree-Completion Award will only pay for those credits the student-athlete needs to complete his or her undergraduate degree requirements. The cost for any additional credits will be the responsibility of the student-athlete.
10. Question: A student-athlete can complete his or her undergraduate degree requirements in one more semester, however, the student-athlete wants to delay graduation and attend the institution for an additional semester to improve his or her grade-point average. Will the student-athlete's degree completion award pay for the extra semester?
Answer: Since the student-athlete will graduate at the end of one more semester, the Division II Degree-Completion Award will only pay for the tuition for the student-athlete to attend that one semester. Any additional semesters will be the responsibility of the student-athlete.
11. Question: Is a student-athlete required to submit an official transcript from each institution attended?
Answer: The student-athlete is required to submit an official transcript for each institution attended; however, the student-athlete may submit copies of official transcript(s) that are on file at the Division II institution.
12. Question: Is there a limit to the number of student-athletes who may be nominated from one institution for the Division II Degree-Completion Award?
Answer: An institution is limited to nominating a maximum of three student-athletes for the Division II Degree-Completion Award.
13. Question: Is a student-athlete eligible for the Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete attends an active Division II member institution, but the sport in which the student-athlete participated is a Division I sponsored sport?
Answer: The Division II Degree-Completion Award has been established to assist student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility in a Division II sponsored sport. Therefore, a student-athlete who participated in a Division I sponsored sport at a Division II institution would not be eligible for the Division II Degree-Completion Award.
14. Question: Can a student-athlete who is completing a minor receive the Division II Degree-Completion Award?
Answer: A student-athlete may receive the Division II Degree-Completion Award provided the minor is a part of the student-athlete's undergraduate degree requirements. However, if the minor is optional or not required for the undergraduate degree, then the student-athlete would not be eligible for the Division II Degree-Completion Award.
15. Question: Is a student-athlete eligible for a Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete is attending a Division II provisional member institution?
Answer: The Division II Degree-Completion Award has been established to assist student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility at an active Division II member institution within the past academic year. Therefore, a student-athlete is not eligible for the Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete is attending a Division II provisional member institution.
16. Question: Is a student-athlete eligible for a Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete is attending a Division II institution that is reclassifying to Division I?
Answer: The Division II Degree-Completion Award has been established to assist student-athletes who have exhausted eligibility at an active Division II member institution within the past academic year. Therefore, a student-athlete is not eligible for a Division II Degree-Completion Award if the student-athlete is attending a Division II institution that is reclassifying to Division I.
