It’s always great to have a cheering section. The new NCAA public service advertisements provide an informative, yet light-hearted, take on the NCAA’s committed and unswerving support of student-athletes. Two new 30-second spots portray NCAA support as a full and noisy marching band and a hyperactive cheerleading squad, respectively.
But these squads are around for more than just athletic events – tailing individual student-athletes around campus, to graduation and even job interviews. It becomes clear that the metaphors aren’t perfect, but the goal is that the audience better understands what motivates everything that the NCAA does to support student-athletes.
Debuting in March, the PSAs will be visible during the 2013 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship on CBS and Turner Broadcasting networks, the Division I Women’s Basketball Championship on ESPN and throughout the year during other televised NCAA championships.
