NCAA Position

The recruiting process must balance the interests of prospective student-athletes and the Association’s member institutions. The NCAA recruiting bylaw is designed to promote equity among member schools in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and to shield the recruited individuals from undue pressures that may interfere with their scholastic or athletics interests.

NCAA Division I Cross Country/Track and Field Recruiting Calendar August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012

The dates in this calendar reflect the application of Bylaw 13.17.8 at the time of publication of this manual but are subject to change per NCAA Constitution 5.2.3.1 or if certain dates change (e.g., National Letter of Intent signing dates) are altered.

(a) August 1-13, 2011: Quiet Period

(b) August 14 through December 11, 2011, [except (1) below]: Contact Period

            (1) November 21 (12:01 a.m.) to November 22, 2011, (12:01 a.m.): Dead Period

(c) December 12, 2011, through January 2, 2012, [except for (1) below]: Quiet  Period

            (1) December 12 (12:01 a.m.) to December 16, 2011, (12:01 a.m.): Dead Period

(d) January 3 through July 31, 2012, [except for (1) through (3) below]: Contact Period

            (1) January 30 through February 2, 2012: Dead Period

            (2) March 9 (12:01 a.m.) to March 11, 2012, (12:01 a.m.): Dead Period

            (3) June 6 (12:01 a.m.) to June 10, 2012, (12:01 a.m.): Dead Period
