Hillsdale is reinstating its women’s tennis program this fall after a six-year hiatus. The school sponsored the sport until the spring of 2005, when it was cut along with men’s golf. A search is currently underway for a head coach.
The Chargers finished with a 1-9 record in 2004, their last season of competition. Hillsdale won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship in 1983.
Other GLIAC members that sponsor women’s tennis are Grand Valley State, Northwood, Ferris State, Ashland, Wayne State (Michigan), Ohio Dominican, Michigan Tech, Saginaw Valley State, Lake Superior State, Findlay, Tiffin and Lake Erie.
