The Division II membership will receive a nice pre-holiday stocking stuffer in the form of a $2.6 million supplemental distribution.
The Division II Administrative Committee (that is, the officers of the Presidents and Management Councils) voted to divide the money equally among all active members in good standing, as of last May’s Enhancement Fund distribution.
“We have these fund balances occasionally, and this is the second or third time the Administrative Committee has voted for a supplemental distribution,” said Vice President Mike Racy. “This one is the largest by far.”
The distribution means that 266 Division II member institutions each will receive checks of $9,775.
Direct deposits were made to Division II members Dec. 9. For institutions that receive actual checks, they were sent to the president’s or chancellor’s office, along with a memo encouraging that the money be applied this year to benefit student-athletes through financial aid or to offset expenses incurred in championships competition. Athletics directors will receive a copy of the memo.
