Q: What is the purpose of the Emerging Leaders Seminar?

A: The goal of ELS is for participants to “Invest in their Future” by learning and developing professional skills to help prepare them for a life in the sports industry. Participants will also gain more knowledge in their field of interest and hear from speakers on setting and establishing their goals, being effective leaders in life and establishing their personal brand.

Q: Who can attend?

A: ELS is open to all current interns of Division I, II, and III conference offices, institutional interns, graduate students, and anyone interested in working in collegiate or professional athletics.

Q: How old do I have to be to attend?

A: For planning and legal purposes, we are requiring all attendees be 21 or older.

Q: What is the attire?

A: We would like to make the following dress recommendations:

Unless otherwise noted, business casual attire is required for all sessions and luncheons. This would include a collar/button down shirt for the men and slacks/skirt or a dress for the women. During social activities participants are welcome to wear casual attire.

Q: What does the registration fee cover?

A: In addition to the cost of hosting the seminar, registration fees will cover hotel lodging, food, entertainment, and supplies. Please note attendees are responsible for the costs incurred to travel to the conference which includes air travel, gas (if driving) and transportation to and from the airport.

Q: Where will ELS be held?

A: ELS will be held at the NCAA headquarters.

Q: What are the hotel accommodations for ELS?

A: Participants will be staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites which is located across the street from NCAA headquarters. Participants will be able to select either a single or two person room. Q: What if I need to arrive on Wednesday?

A: If you have to arrive on Wednesday, January 26th it is important that you contact Katie Stumpp at kstumpp@ncaa.org or (317) 223-0724. The ELS staff will coordinate with the Fairfield Inn about your hotel reservation for Wednesday evening.

Q: Are there social activities planned for the participants after the conclusion of ELS seminars every day?

A: Yes, the ELS social committee has planned social outings during the conference to allow attendees the opportunity to interact with one another and explore downtown Indianapolis.

Q: If I can't check into the hotel upon arrival, will there be a place at the National Office to put my luggage?

A: Yes, we will provide a luggage storage room on the first and last days of the seminar.

Q: How can I get from the airport to my hotel room or the NCAA office?

A: For transportation from the Indianapolis International Airport to The Fairfield Hotel or the NCAA office you can use one of the many taxi services available at the airport, take the IndyGo Green Line Downtown/Airport Express bus service which delivers non-stop service from the airport to downtown for $7 per trip, or proceed to the ground transportation center and use Carey Limousine service. Please call 800/888-4639 for Carey reservations. The cost for the shared ride with Carey is $16 plus gratuity, one way per person.

Return transportation can be set up through IndyGo, Carey or with one of the many taxi services which frequent the hotel.

A: If you are a commuter, we ask that you park in the White River State Park Parking Garage located adjacent to the National Office. We will provide you with a parking voucher for each day of ELS. Please follow this link for more information: White River State Park

Q: What should I bring?

A: It is a good idea to consider the weather when packing (you will have to walk a short distance from the hotel to the office). We also recommend that you bring materials to take notes if you wish. In addition it is suggested that you bring your business cards to this conference.
