If the event is obtaining insurance through the AAU instead of a traditional insurance carrier, the event operator will need complete the AAU sanctioning process prior to applying for NCAA certification. Applications submitted claiming AAU sanctioning and therefore utilizing AAU insurance but that do not appear on the list of AAU sanctioned events at the time the certification staff processes the NCAA application will be denied. Further, if an operator submits AAU insurance and does not appear on the AAU Web site as an AAU sanctioned event, the insurance information submitted will be considered fraudulent by the NCAA and the operator will be assessed the penalties outlined in the Provision of False and Misleading Information Policy.
If an operator submits Club Level 1 membership insurance provided for team practices only, NCAA-certification will be denied.
Operators who submit AAU insurance will need to confirm in the notes section of the application that all participants in the event are "official" card-carrying members of the AAU as teams and participants that are not official AAU members are not covered under the AAU policy. The NCAA will inform the AAU to anticipate applications from participating teams/participants.
All AAU sanctioned events provide coaches' packets free of charge to NCAA coaches per directives of the AAU national office.
You must actually submit the third party certificate of liability form provided by the AAU to the NCAA; a copy of your AAU membership information will not suffice.
