Kennesaw State appointed Katie Egloff as assistant athletics director for championships and events. Egloff most recently spent two years at Connecticut. Heath Senour also joins the Owls as associate athletics director for compliance.

Other transactions

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Keystone chose Nevada Smith to lead its men’s basketball program as head coach. Smith was an assistant at Ithaca the last five years. He replaces Jason Leone, who stepped down last month.

Women’s basketball assistants – Illinois-Chicago hired Marc Lopez as its director of women’s basketball operations. Lopez most recently coached at the high school level.

Football – UNLV extended the contract of head football coach Bobby Hauck by two years, keeping him with the program through 2014. Hauck is in his second season with the Rebels.

Men’s and women’s golf assistants – Russell Helson is Lamar’s new assistant men’s and women’s golf coach. He replaces Dusty Smith, who was recently hired as an assistant at Vanderbilt.

Softball – Kalamazoo named Ritch Harrison head softball coach. Harrison replaces Brian De Witt, who resigned to become an assistant at Chowan.

Staff

Academic services – College of Charleston appointed Melinda Reger academic advisor and student-athlete affairs coordinator. Reger most recently worked at Florida Atlantic.

Development – Guy Rozier is Rensselaer’s new chief advancement officer and will focus on athletics fundraising. Rozier comes from his alma mater, Nebraska.

Media relations – Morehead State named Matt Segal athletics media relations director. Segal’s previous two jobs were in Indianapolis, spending two years at the Horizon League and four with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.

Strength and conditioning – Winthrop chose Greg Adamson as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Adamson spent the past two years working as a graduate assistant for Central Michigan.

Conferences 

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference welcomed North Carolina Central and Savannah State as full members.

NCAA committee vacancies

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for an immediate vacancy on the Division III Women’s Basketball Committee. The appointee will replace Carolyn Hunter from Christopher Newport, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the South region and may be a coach or an administrator. The deadline for submitting nomination materials is October 7, 2011.  Nominations must be submitted online (access code: committee3 password: 2006).
