Former Kansas head football coach Don Fambrough died on Saturday at the age of 88. Fambrough spent eight years as head coach of his alma mater in addition to 19 years as an assistant. He played or coached in five of the nine bowl games the Jayhawks ever participated in.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Tennessee named Dave Hart vice chancellor and athletics director. Hart previously worked at his alma mater, Alabama, since 2008 as executive director of athletics. He was Florida State’s athletics director for 12 years before that.

Coaches

Men’s basketball assistants – Belmont hired Tyler Holloway as director of basketball operations. Holloway spent the last two years as a graduate assistant for the Bruins.

Women’s bowling assistants – Adelphi chose Erica Perez as an assistant women’s bowling coach. Perez recently completed her student-athlete experience at Fairleigh Dickinson.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field assistants – La Salle added Tom Peterson and James Mauro to its cross country and track staff – Peterson as an assistant and Mauro as a graduate assistant. Peterson was most recently a volunteer assistant for two years at Wisconsin.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse assistants – Holy Cross tabbed Thomas Guadagnolo as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach. Guadagnolo recently completed a playing career at Syracuse … Shenandoah named Nick Northern as its top assistant men’s lacrosse coach. Northern recently completed his playing career at Virginia Wesleyan.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – Marco Masucci is the new assistant women’s soccer coach at Fairleigh Dickinson.

Milestones

Eastern head women’s volleyball coach Mark Birtwistle won his 500th career match over the weekend, while the team’s seniors notched their 100th victory as a class.

Deaths

Former Oklahoma football player and South Florida Athletics Director Lee Roy Selmon died on Sunday, two days after being hospitalized for a stroke. He was 56.
