The NCAA News Stetson named Nolan Behrns director of football operations. Behrns’ experience began with his time as a student-assistant at Nebraska-Omaha from 2007-10. He officially joined his alma mater’s staff upon graduation as director of football operations. Behrns is the first hire of head coach Roger Hughes, as the program is set to make its debut in 2013. Other transactions Coaches Baseball assistants – Tusculum chose Andy Collins as an assistant baseball coach. Collins comes from the high school level. Men’s basketball assistants – Jamie Quarles will return to his alma mater, Augusta State, as an assistant men’s basketball coach. He spent last season on the staff at King (Tennessee) … Brown promoted TJ Sorrentine to associate head men’s basketball coach. He has been an assistant at Brown for the past three years. Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field assistants – Cal State East Bay tabbed Ron Davis as an assistant cross country and track and field coach. Davis comes from Ohio State, where he spent two seasons coaching the women’s distance runners. Men’s and women’s golf assistants – South Carolina Upstate named Audrey Church assistant women’s golf coach. She was a member of the institution’s first ever women’s golf team in 2005 and played through 2009. Softball assistants – Loyola (Illinois) selected Jeff Tylka as an assistant softball coach. Tylka coached previously at the high school level in Illinois. Wrestling assistants – UNC Pembroke hired Byron Sigmon as an assistant wrestling coach. NCAA Committee Vacancies The NCAA is soliciting nominations for an immediate vacancy on the Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee. The appointee will replace Leslie Claybrook, formerly of Rice, who resigned from the committee. There are no restrictions on this appointment.
