Miles for Myles
fund-raiser
Basketball games last weekend between Monmouth (Illinois) and host Knox offered an opportunity for both schools’ student-athlete advisory committees to raise funds for the Miles for Myles program.
More than 125 participants in the three-mile walk/run for fun raised $450 for cancer research January 30 while honoring NCAA President Myles Brand, who died last September of pancreatic cancer. The three-mile distance is symbolic of the NCAA’s three divisions.
The Miles for Myles program was developed by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and also is supported by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the NCAA.
