Do international students need to meet the NCAA Division I core-course progression requirement (10/7)?

Future student-athlete frequently asked questions

Answer:

Students who attend a domestic school during part or all their secondary education are required to meet the 10/7 requirement for Division I. For example, if a student enrolls in year nine in a foreign school, and then transfers to an American school for grade 12, this student will be required to meet the 10/7 requirements should she or he enroll at a Division I school.

Students who present only international-based academic credentials will not be held to Division I 10/7 requirements at this time. This means that if a student begins year nine at an foreign school and attends foreign school(s) for the duration of their secondary education, this student would not be held to the 10/7 progression requirement.

Note: There is no progression requirement for Division II.
