Course catalogs

A course catalog is a document listing all courses taught at a school by discipline, complete with a brief description of each course. In addition to a brief overview of the course, the written description will sometimes include the grade level, prerequisites, course length or amount of credit. A course catalog is also known as a program of studies, a curriculum guide, a registration guide or a course description guide.

The following documents may not be substituted for a course catalog:

  • Course listing
  • Table of contents from texts
  • State standards
  • Common core standards
  • Syllabi
