Winfield reflects on College World Series

Dave Winfield, Major League Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2001, is the guest speaker for the opening ceremonies for the men’s College World Series today at T.D. Ameritrade Park Omaha, Nebraska. Winfield, who played both baseball and basketball at the University of Minnesota in the early 1970s, led the Gophers to their last College World Series appearance in 1973.

Knocking it out of the park

Academic Progress Rates in baseball have risen steadily from 933.3 in 2003-04 (the first year the data were compiled) to 973.0 in the most recent year. Graduation Success Rates also jumped by 7 percentage points recently and are at their highest levels since reporting began.

Dan Guerrero: Pioneering role model who followed his dreams

Tampa wins seventh DII baseball title

The University of Tampa and Catawba College produced plenty of stellar work on the mound throughout the season, and when the two squared off with the national championship trophy on the line, Tampa pitcher Michael Calkins’ brilliant effort secured a national championship.
