The National Collegiate Athletics Association requires each of its member institutions to appoint an FAR who must be a member of the faculty or administrative staff and may not hold a position in the athletics department.  The most recent survey of the FARs was conducted in 2025 and builds upon previous surveys conducted in 2011, 2005 and 1996.  The 2025 survey provides a comprehensive, contemporary look at the FAR experience.
