Task Force to Advance Mental Health Best Practices Strategies

Task Force Resources:

On Nov. 9 and 10, 2017, the NCAA Sport Science Institute hosted the Task Force to Advance Mental Health Best Practices Strategies at the national office in Indianapolis. In attendance were nearly 40 presidents, coaches, student-athletes and administrators from NCAA member schools, as well as mental health content experts and representatives from sports medicine, mental health and higher education associations.

The goals of the task force were three-fold: 1) develop tools and strategies to assist member schools with the implementation of the Mental Health Best Practices; 2) identify emerging issues; and 3) engage additional constituents and stakeholders. The participants broke into groups to discuss models of care, cross-collaboration, educational programming and athletics department policies.

As an outcome, task force members developed resources to help campuses and conference offices implement the Mental Health Best Practices.
