Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee Duties

  1. NAME OF COMMITTEE:   Division I Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee.
  2. NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS: 
    • 20:  five committee members serve on each of the four waiver subcommittees (EID, International, Transcript Change/GPA, Core Course).
  3. GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS: 
    • Deliberate and decide initial-eligibility waiver appeals submitted by member institutions seeking to appeal from the staff’s initial decision on a waiver.  Committee members also review on a regular basis all staff decisions in their particular waiver area.
  4. NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR (include approximate dates and days away from office): 
    • Zero, this committee does not meet in person.
  5. NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR (include the usual day of the week and average length of call): 
    • Between 6 and 10 calls annually.  Calls last a maximum of one hour and are conducted during a scheduled weekly call time (e.g., from 2 to 3 p.m. eastern on Thursdays).
  6. OTHER COMMENTS: 
    • The majority of the conference calls occur during the late summer and fall term.  The work load of committee members is generally light during the remainder of the academic year.
