Committee Vacancies

Note: To be eligible to serve on a divisional cabinet or committee, or as a divisional representative on an Association-wide or common committee, an individual must be salaried on a regular basis by an institution or conference in the same division and perform a regular staff function representing at least 50 percent of the normal workload for a staff member at that institution or conference, unless otherwise specified.

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following committee vacancies. Individuals with regional advisory committee (RAC) experience are encouraged to submit nominations for sports committees with RACs:

Division I

Deadline August 21, 2020

  • Division I Competition Oversight Committee – staff contact: Jennifer Henderson. One immediate vacancy for a non-voting current student-athlete in sports other than basketball and football. Conferences currently represented may submit nominations for the non-voting positions. Please select the Division I Non-SAAC nomination form for student-athlete nominations.

  • NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel – staff contact: Dan CalandroOne immediate vacancy; any subdivision. The following conferences are currently represented and therefore not eligible for this vacancy; Atlantic Coast Conference, Patriot League, Southeastern Conference, Sun Belt Conference, Western Athletic Conference.

Deadline August 6, 2020

  • Division I Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee – staff contact: Charnele Kemper. One immediate vacancy; non-voting student-athlete. (Please use the Non-SAAC nomination form for the student-athlete nomination. Conference currently represented may submit student-athlete nominations). Preferred qualifications: underclassman, a student-athlete who was highly recruited, is receiving an athletics scholarship or received offer of athletics aid, major contributor - preferably a starter, and has NCAA Championship experience.

Deadline: August 3, 2020

  • NCAA Honors Committee – staff liaison: Stacey Preston. One January 2021 vacancy. Appointee can be from any division. Individual must be a current or former NCAA institution chancellor or president. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration: Division I conferences: Big East Conference, The Ivy League, Mountain West Conference; Division II conference: Great Lakes Valley; Division III Conference: Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

Deadline: July 31, 2020

  • Division I Nominating Committee – staff contact: Jen Roe. One immediate vacancy. FBS. The following FBS conferences are currently represented on the committee and therefore not eligible for this vacancy: American Athletic Conference, Pac-12, Southeastern Conference.
  • Division I Football Oversight Committee – staff contact: Kris Richardson. One immediate non-council vacancy.  Any subdivision.  Committee Preference: FCS head coach. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and therefore not eligible for this vacancy:  Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Sky Conference, Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Colonial Athletic Association, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, Pac-12 Conference, Southeastern Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Sun Belt Conference .

Division I nominations must be submitted by a Division I conference. Contact your conference if you are interested in being considered for any Division I committee vacancy.

Division II

  • NCAA Honors Committee – staff liaison: Stacey Preston. One January 2021 vacancy. Appointee can be from any division. Individual must be a current or former NCAA institution chancellor or president. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration: Division I conferences: Big East Conference, The Ivy League, Mountain West Conference; Division II conference: Great Lakes Valley; Division III Conference: Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

Deadline: July 31, 2020

  • Division II Rowing Committee – staff liaison – Marie Scovron. Two immediate vacancies, replacing Rachel Burleson and Andy Derrick, who resigned from the committee. One appointee must be an administrator. One appointee must be from the East region (Assumption University, Franklin Pierce University, Mercyhurst University, Thomas Jefferson University) and one must be from West region (Seattle Pacific University, University of Central Oklahoma, Western Washington University).

Please note: This past spring, the NCAA Division II Management Council approved a change to the timeframe a nomination for a NCAA committee vacancy would stay active. Previously, the nomination would remain active for 18-months. New nominations will now remain active for one year. Any previous nominations that are in the system will expire based on their original submission dates.

  • Division III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee – staff contact: Zach Romash. Two January 2021 vacancies. One appointee must be female. One appointee must be ethnic minority. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration: American Southwest Conference, Middle Atlantic Conferences, North Coast Athletic Conference, State University of New York Athletic Conference, Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Individual must be a current or former NCAA institution chancellor or president.
