Committee Vacancies

Note: To be eligible to serve on a divisional cabinet or committee, or as a divisional representative on an Association-wide or common committee, an individual must be salaried on a regular basis by an institution or conference in the same division and perform a regular staff function representing at least 50 percent of the normal workload for a staff member at that institution or conference, unless otherwise specified.

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following committee vacancies. Individuals with regional advisory committee (RAC) experience are encouraged to submit nominations for sports committees with RACs:

Division I

For information about the responsibilities of the committee, please contact the staff contact for each respective committee. For questions about the nomination process, please contact Jen Roe.

Deadline November 27, 2020

Nominations are being accepted for September 2021 committee vacancies  (see list here). The vacancies are for Division I governance committees, Division I positions on Association-wide governance committees, Division I sports committees, and Division I positions on National Collegiate sports and sports rules committees.

  • You can view current nominations here.
  • Due to the volume of nominations, it may take up to five business days to activate nominations.
  • The Nominating Committee will review the majority of the vacancies during its February 2021 meeting. The Council Coordination Committee will review the recommendations during the spring. Most terms begin September 1.

  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee – staff contact: Lori ThomasOne immediate vacancy, any subdivision. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and therefore not eligible for this vacancy: Atlantic Coast Conference, Atlantic -10 Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Southern Conference.
  • NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee – staff contact: Jennifer Henderson. One January 1, 2021 vacancy, any subdivision. The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and therefore not eligible for this vacancy: Atlantic Coast Conference, America East Conference, ASUN Conference, Big East Conference, Big South Conference, Big Ten Conference, Big West Conference, Conference USA, Horizon League, Mid-American Conference, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Mountain West Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Pac-12 Conference, Southeastern Conference, West Coast Conference, Western Athletic Conference.

Division I nominations must be submitted by a Division I conference. Contact your conference if you are interested in being considered for any Division I committee vacancy.

 

Division II

  • Division II Wrestling Committee – staff contact: Ryan Tressel. One immediate vacancy, Ann Traphagen resigned; Super region 5, administrator. The following institutions are in Super Region 5: Augustana University (South Dakota), University of Mary, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota State University Moorhead, Minot State University, Northern State University, Southwest Minnesota State University, St. Cloud State University, Upper Iowa University, University of Wisconsin - Parkside.

Please note: This past spring, the NCAA Division II Management Council approved a change to the timeframe a nomination for a NCAA committee vacancy would stay active. Previously, the nomination would remain active for 18-months. New nominations will now remain active for one year. Any previous nominations that are in the system will expire based on their original submission dates.

  • NCAA Division III Coaching Enhancement Grant Selection Committee – staff contact: Lamarr Pottinger. Five new committee vacancies. One must be male, one must be female, one must be an ethnic minority, and one must be a former hired assistant coach, supervisor or mentor of hired assistant coach that received a Coaching Enhancement Grant.

  • NCAA Division III Committee on Infractions – staff contact: Ken Kleppel. One January 2021 vacancy.  Applicant needs to be an ethnic minority. The following conferences are already represented on the committee and therefore are not eligible for this vacancy: American Southwest Conference, Centennial Conference, Commonwealth Coast Conference, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
