Committee Vacancies

Note: To be eligible to serve on a divisional cabinet or committee, or as a divisional representative on an Association-wide or common committee, an individual must be salaried on a regular basis by an institution or conference in the same division and perform a regular staff function representing at least 50 percent of the normal workload for a staff member at that institution or conference, unless otherwise specified.

Division I

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for two immediate vacancies on the Women’s Bowling Committee – staff contact:  Ryan Tressel.  The appointees will replace Kevin Colon, Vanderbilt University, and Amber Lemke, Stephen F. Austin State University, who resigned from committee due to duplicate conference representation.  One appointee must be an administrator; one appointee must be from the Central region; one can be from any region.  Any division or subdivision.  The deadline for submitting nomination materials is July 10, 2015.  

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following committee vacancies.  The deadline for submitting nomination materials is July 24, 2015:

  • Division I Nominating Committee – staff contacts:  Sharon Tufano and Jenn Fraser.  During its June meeting, the Division I Council approved the creation of the Division I Nominating Committee.  This newly-created committee will facilitate the process to fill vacancies on all Division I Council committee (non-Council positions), all Division I committees (e.g. sport committees and Division I governance committees) and Division I positions on Association-wide committees.  This committee will report to the Division I Council and the Council will ratify the Nominating Committee’s recommended slate of nominations ensuring compliance with composition requirements and overarching diversity principles.  We anticipate one annual in-person meeting and regularly scheduled conferences calls.  The committee will be comprised  of 12 members.  Four members from the Football Bowl Subdivision, four members from the Football Championship Subdivision, and four members from the Division I Subdivision.  The Council indicated a preference for positional diversity on the committee.  Conferences may submit two nominees as long as they are different positions. 
  • Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee – staff contact:  Doug HealeySix January 2016 vacancies.  Specifically, the NCAA is seeking two campus administrators with experience supporting student-athletes with education-impacting disabilities (e.g., academic support services); three campus administrators with experience involving international student-athletes (e.g., academic evaluations, admissions); and one campus administrator with initial-eligibility certification experience for the transcript change/grade-point average subcommittee.  There are no subdivisional restrictions.
  • Men’s Gymnastics Committee – staff contact:  Connie Israel.  One immediate vacancy.  The appointee will replace Guard Young, formerly of the University of Oklahoma.  West region; coach or administrator. No subdivisional restriction.
  • Division I Rowing Committee – staff contact:  Jeff Mlynski One September 2015 vacancy.  The appointee must be an administrator from Region 2.  No subdivisional restriction.

Division II

Division III

Division III Championships Committee – staff contact:  Liz Suscha.  One immediate and two January 2016 vacancies.  Due to the immediate vacancy, the deadline for submitting nomination materials is July 2, 2015.  Immediate vacancy (replacing Tom Hart, Berry College) – appointee must be male.  January 2016 vacancies – one appointee must be a male, one appointee must be a female; one appointee must be from Region 2 (New York, Pennsylvania).  The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration:  Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Midwest Conference, New England Small College Athletic Conference, Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

Division III Baseball Committee – staff contact:  J.P. Williams.  One immediate vacancy.  Due to the immediate vacancy the deadline for submitting nomination materials is July 2, 2015.  The appointee must be from the West region; coach or administrator.  The American Southwest Conference is currently represented on the committee and is therefore not eligible for consideration.

  • Division III Financial Aid Committee – staff contact:  Eric Hartung.  Three January 2016 vacancies.  One appointee must be a financial aid administrator; one appointee must be a male.  The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration:  American Southwest Conference, City University of New York Athletic Conference, Commonwealth Coast Conference, Empire 8, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, Little East, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Ohio Athletic Conference, Old Dominion Athletic Conference, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

  • Division III Infractions Appeals Committee – staff contact:  Wendy Walters.  One January 2016 vacancy.  No restrictions.  The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration:  Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, New England Collegiate Conference.
  • Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee – staff contact:  Jeff Myers.  Two January 2016 vacancies.  Both appointees must be male.  The following conferences are currently represented on the committee and are therefore not eligible for consideration:  Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, Centennial Conference, Landmark Conference, Midwest Conference, Northwest Conference, Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
  • Division III Management Council – staff contact:  Louise McCleary.  Three January 2016 vacancies.  One appointee must be an AD or SWA; one appointee must be a female.  No other restrictions.  Please note that NCAA Bylaw 4.8.1 states that the Management Council shall be comprised of presidents or chancellors, athletics direct reports (non-presidents or chancellors with oversight of intercollegiate athletics), faculty athletics representatives, directors of athletics, senior woman administrators, conference representatives and student-athletes.  The following conferences are currently represented on the Council and are therefore not eligible for consideration:  Centennial Conference, City University of New York Athletic Conference, Commonwealth Coast Conference, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, Landmark Conference, Liberty League, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, New England Collegiate Conference, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference, New Jersey Athletic Conference, North Atlantic Conference, Ohio Athletic Conference, Presidents’ Athletic Conference, Skyline Conference, Southern Athletic Association, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, State University of New York Athletic Conference, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
