June scholastic boys’ basketball events

Basketball players interested in developing their skills and showcasing their talent in front of Division I college coaches will have new opportunities to do so this summer through a series of events hosted by state high school coaches associations, high school athletics organizations and two-year college organizations around the country. The events, which will be certified by the NCAA, the National Federation of State High School Associations, the National Junior College Athletic Association and the California Community College Athletic Association, will be held on the campuses of educational institutions (other than NCAA Division I colleges and universities) each summer during the last two weekends in June.

The Commission on College Basketball, following counsel provided by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, recommended the events last year as part of its outline to reform college basketball by enhancing the recruiting environment and further engaging the high school coaching community in the development and recruitment of young players. The events will be administered by local high school athletics associations and the National High School Basketball Coaches Association.
