    Competitive Environment
    Student-athletes should be provided with adequate opportunities for athletics competition.

    Health and Safety
    Student-athletes should be provided with a healthy and safe environment in which to perform both athletically and academically.

    Individual Development
    Student-athletes should be provided with an environment that values the development of each student-athlete.

    Recruiting
    Prospective student-athletes should be informed on their opportunities to participate in intercollegiate athletics while having their time and privacy protected.

    Financial Assistance
    Student-athletes may receive financial assistance to fund their education.

    Student-Athlete Involvement
    Student-athletes should be involved in matters that affect them.

    Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct
    Student-athletes should be provided with an environment that adheres to such fundamental values as respect, fairness, civility, honesty and responsibility.

A member institution at its discretion may provide those items that are permissive inasmuch as the institution determines which benefits and services it will provide. In some instances, the noted provisions may be provided by an entity other than the institution (e.g., United States Olympic Committee).
