Division II Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee Duties & Responsibilities

COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES

 NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  • Five

 GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  • Hear and discuss issues regarding student-athlete reinstatement and take legislative action and/or issue direction to staff and/or make recommendations to Management Council regarding discussed issues.

NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR(include approximate dates and days away from office)

  • One 3-day meeting in May or June and one 3-day meeting in early December.

 NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR (include the usual day of the week and average length of call)

  • Appeal calls can occur on a weekly basis.
    Additionally, three to four other calls as needed per year.

 OTHER COMMENTS

  • Committee provides oversight and guidance to the reinstatement staff regarding the reinstatement process.  Staff makes all initial decisions; committee serves as appellate body for staff decisions.  In addition, committee sets policy and guidelines for reinstatement process and reviews all flexible decisions made by the staff.
